It’s a Hit(s)!

We had 5,021 visits on the Blog over the week from last Sunday morning (20th). That’s a record – indeed four days exceeded the previous single best of 754. Many thanks – maybe that nice Mr Freeman’s singing had something to do with it …

Blues News

From Spider John R

We’re very excited to have of SONS OF THE DELTA – the FULL band  – at The Bullfrog Blues club on Thursday 7th February. The band have headlined the blues day at The Southsea Folk & Roots Ferstival in the past.  and have appeared at the Bullfrog as a duo, so we’re very much looking forward to what is bound to be a great night with this fantastic band.

It’s at the Dockyard Club, Onslow Road, Southsea

Bert’s is back!

Colin's bike at Berts

Here’s the ‘chippy’ as it is today, the bike is Colin Wood’s and below a nice memory from Tony Ransley. It’s not the first time we’ve visited Bert’s but it clearly lives in the memory.

Oddly with only a couple of exceptions (inc Tony) no one seems to recall much at either the Rock Gardens or the Art College. Pete Brown wrote that song “The Art College Dance Goes on Forever” but maybe not in Pompey? The current interest is that the old ‘dance hall’ on the corner has been demolished for a big rebuild. I saw the Merseybeats and Fairport Convention at the Pyramids in their early months (MRA worked there) but who played at the appropriately named Rock Gardens? Any rockers?
