Bob Montgomery RIP

I can’t pretend the name was instantly familiar but Bob Montgomery who has died age 77 wrote some wonderful songs including this cracker

Others? “Back in Baby’s Arms” by the lovely Patsy Cline and a few songs recorded by his mate Buddy Holly. The pair of them were a duo in the mid-50s until they played support to Elvis after which Buddy Holly took off in a solo search for rock & roll. So Bob Montgomery wrote songs for him including “Heartbeat”, “Wishing” and “Love’s Made a Fool of You”.

Good stuff huh?

  1. Not a good time of year to be a musician, 34 years ago today the John Lennon was shot & 50 years on Thursday that Sam Cooke also died of gunshot injuries.

  2. Lets play some ‘Otis Blue’ on Wednesday , to commemorate the loss of one of the most iconic soul singers ever…………..
Dec 10th 1967………..Otis Redding ……died in the plane crash in Lake Wonona…and after the event ‘Dock of The Bay’ gave him a #1 record……………….Lots of sad things seem to happen at what is supposed to be a happy time of year eh !!!!
