Something Else from Somewhere Else

I read that Matana Roberts “explores US History and the long journey African-Americans have taken from oppression to emancipation”.

It ain’t like much else

Mick responded by sending this remarkable photo. Just over 100 years ago in Pompey – it looks like a Salvation Army event

  1. Fascinating photo of the Salvation Army gathering. In the middle are my great grandfather and grandmother. Back row, third from the right is my grandfather Tom Smith. All the family were great Salvationists in those days. Great grandfather James went on to be first elected Lord Mayor of Portsmouth in 1929.
    Interesting stuff!
