POMPEY POP

An Important Development

MANY thanks for all the terrific contributions to the map discussion – very much appreciated. I’ll add that tomorrow night ((Express FM at 7pm) will be the final broadcast of “Towards the Point” – taken up mainly with a discussion about two significant clubs: the 30th anniversary of the opening of Basin’s and the 50th anniversary of the Birdcage (which is this Thursday/Friday). There’s also a piece about Tangerine Dream so 1960s, 1970s, 1980s …

The history of popular music in Portsmouth has taken on an important new initiative which is already attracting much interest – a Facebook site:

I’m not very good at Facebook, it confuses me and I can’t be bothered to figure it out – but I hope those of you that like using Facebook will get involved because unlike this Blog, it’s not driven by one person; the process of contributing is far more immediately democratic, which I do like very much.

  1. We are up to almost 50 members now …I’m hoping there is an easy way to share Dave’s excellent blog straight to the Facebook Group…may need one of them young’uns to figure out how….spread the word and if you are already a member you can add your friends (whether they they want to be added or not 🙂

  2. Actually I should have said this all came out of a suggestion by Paul on his visit here last week. Many thanks Paul and good luck with it

  3. Interesting program tonight Dave!
Thanks for the personal compliments and for a great summary of what both clubs and the scene surrounding them were about
Mind you I think a lot of it went completely over the other guys head !

  4. Thanks Mr G – very kind. Always pleased to get things ‘on the record’.
