POMPEY POP

Double or Quits

OK, my first two-pronged assault on history

Yesterday on the Pompey Pop facebook site I posted this flyer

Heineken 1996

and posed this question:

This is a flyer for those lovely Heineken Big Tops on the seafront and quite a few local bands (Screeper, Green Hornets, Annie Hates Corial, Red Letter Day, Ricardos, Motherfolkers etc). So I’m interested in memories of outdoor gigs. I’m not thinking of 1920s brass bands on Sunday afternoons and I suspect I may have played at the first rock & roll one on Southsea Common September 1969. The following year there were a couple of disasters at the Dog Track but what about other sunny afternoons and balmy evenings outdoors in Pompey?

  1. Well Dave I sent an email to you. We did play a gig on the grass at the Portsmouth Airport back in 68 or 69.
