Thursday 30 April from 7pm, Portsmouth Guildhall

7pm onwards: Visit the Access all Areas Gallery on the First Floor of Portsmouth Guildhall including the new exhibition “Rock Shots: 50 Years of Music Photography in Portsmouth”. The gallery offers a history of popular music in the city since 1945.

7.45 The SOUTHSEA SKIFFLE ORCHESTRA gives its first public performance. SSO developed from a workshop at last year’s 60+ Festival and relives those glorious days of 1956/7

8.15 The debut of SCARLET TOWN with a number of familiar local musicians performing a varied (amplified) acoustic set of carefully arranged songs – folk, singer-songwriters, Americana etc.

9.00 The CLASS OF ’69 offer a lively end to the evening with a set of soulful dance tunes. The band is also playing in public for the first time and includes former members of some of Pompey’s great ‘60s soul bands including the Soul Society, Harlem Speakeasy and Image.
