The first Marquee ‘Jazz & Blues’ at Sunbury in 1968 – previously at Richmond and Windsor and eventually turned into the Reading Festival. Interesting line-up although the ‘Jazz’ portion diminished every year through the 1960s

  1. Aah, hah, now you will have the opportunity to check out a band I know, much beloved of an ex Yardbird chum, called Du Bellows. they are playing both the Wickham, and, your, Victorious Festivals.
Whilst on the subject of Festivals, last night I had a long chat (in fact, the other party being who he is, an extraordinarily long chat), with my dear old chum, Gus Gaisford. He reminded of Weeley, 1971 (never, to my knowledge, mentioned in these hallowed web pages), which, he, his then wife, Helen, and myself attended. I have to say that I remember not one act there, as a result of the habit of (nearly) a lifetime. Perhaps Dave , or others, who may also have attended, can actually recall more of this event? The tale which dear Gus recounted last night almost beggars belief…but, not quite, I’m afraid.
