Jim Diamond RIP

I’ve just heard that he’s died. Sometime in the 1990s, Reet Petite & Gone played support to him at the Wedgewood Rooms. I had no idea who he was then – and having heard him, even less idea why we were supporting him – but maybe you know about him? He must have been quite famous, because Radio Two is announcing he’s died – always sad news.

  1. Wasn’t it him who sang the theme song for for ‘Au Widersein (wrong spelling) Pet ? I seem to remember that he was a bit of a tearaway !!

    • Joe Fagin sang that theme tune for AWP (a good excuse for not trying to spell the complete thing)
Jim Diamond’s voice was very distinctive and he wrote some pretty good pop songs as well.

  2. There’s quite a bit about him on Wiki – apparently he was discovered by Alexis Korner so can’t have been all bad.

  3. Who’s Joe Fagin? I thought he was Liverpool’s Manager. This pop lark’s complicated. Apparently Jim Diamond sang the theme music to “Boon” – but then I thought Boon (David) was an Australian batsman …

  4. The theme music’s called “Hi Ho Silver”.
