Frankie Ford RIP

Sorry to report no more Seacruises for Frankie. I’ve sung that song for years and it’s a cracker, but there is an odd tale to it

The wonderful Huey ‘Piano’ Smith and his Clowns recorded it but then they either re-recorded it as a backing for Frankie or maybe wiped off Huey’s vocal and stuck Frankie on there. Why?

Because Frankie was white and therefore easier to sell.

It’s a sad tale but I guess not Frankie’s fault. It’s enough to give you the Tuberculucus

  1. Frankie’s been gone a couple of weeks already. Never knew he was white – he sure sounded black. Love those foghorns!

  2. Interesting footage. Obviously no expense spared !!!!! Definitely not miming !!!!! After I watched it Chuck Berry came on singing “Sweet Little Sixteen”. If you look at the studio audience there is one bloke who is almost certainly a serial killer !

  3. OMG !!….scary or what….ha, ha !!

  4. Such a great feel to the recording (…thanks Huey!) No way and british band could play like that at the time. Frankie does the best he can with ***** production, and he sings and moves pretty well! Love the amateurishness of it all.
