Any Guesses?

Graham Laker emailed to say that ‘Keef’ Richards is on Desert Island Discs, Radio 4 tomorrow morning – so for those of you giving the Run a miss …

Graham reckons among his choices will be

‘Hellhound on My Trail’ Robert Johnson

‘Hoochie Coochie Man’ Muddy W

‘Smokestack Lightning’ The Wolf

‘Oh! Carol’ Chuck Berry

Looks good to me – Any more?

  1. I think he’ll definitely put a Hank Williams on the list, possibly You Win Again. Bo Diddley and Jimmy Reed would be contenders and possibly some soul such as Arthur Alexander , James Carr or Solomon Burke. Maybe he’ll opt for a bit of jazz, big band offering or perhaps a guitar classic such as Django Reinhart. Who knows ? !! That’s the glory of Mr Richards – you never can tell ! Hey that’s a thought !!

  2. These old rockers usually slip in some bit of the ‘classical’ stuff to show they’ve got class – I recall Clapton picking a piece by Samuel Barber on a similar show. I wonder whether there will be anything more modern? maybe something by Gram Parsons?

  3. Or, maybe he might decide to slip in a Rolling Stones number !! If he does, I hope it’s something pre the death of Brian Jones or perhaps the Mick Taylor era.
Of course, the ultimate choice would have to be Countryline Special by Cyril Davies !!!

  4. I got the Hank Williams right and I think Chuck Berry was a no-brainer ! Ironically I ordered a new Etta James collection (50+ tracks) only yesterday !!

  5. Ps, I even got the Hank Williams track right ! You can say “You Win Again ” !!

  6. And Vivaldi – once again a bit of posh for an old rocker
