Youth Clubs

A couple of interesting comments about the Youth Clubs back when

I’m doing some new maps for the Guildhall AAA Show and it would be good to have one for YOUTH CLUBS that featured LIVE BANDS

I’ll start with three that I knew quite well:

St Nicholas’s Copnor

The Red Door, Baffins

St Margaret’s Eastney

More please

  1. Fareham Youth Centre was a regular venue for live music during 1960s and beginning of 1970s.

  2. Red Door Baffins? where was that situated?

  3. Goodwins Salisbury Road Cosham
Manor Court school youth club Drayton
Paulsgrove Sec Mod School youth club
John Pounds School Portsea youth club

  4. Was the Grove Club in Paulsgrove a youth club ?

  5. Red Door Club was St Cuthberts in Hayling Avenue, I used to spin the vinyl there. Not a church one but does the Stacey Club, YWCA at the time, count? It was in Walsall Road next to where Pompey trained in the 50s & early 69s.

  6. Thinking back, I saw Tangerine Slyde, Coconut Mushroom amongst others there in the larger hall which was on Hayling Ave.

  7. Victoria Youth Club on Stakes Hill Road in Water-LOO-ville had a very prominent live gig once upon a time.
