Prince RIP

As far as I’m aware he had no direct connection with Pompey but I guess a lot of local people admired his work. He was a real star in every sense and he died today while still relatively young.

  1. Another celebrity death was guitarist Lonnie Mack, who wasn’t that well known it seemed to influence a lot of guitarists who were well known.

I’ll admit I don’t have a clue who he was just heard about it on Radio Solent this afternoon, switched van radio to AM and it was still tuned in from listening to the great Hampshire dig in earlier in the week.

  2. Prince had a particular fondness for the Netherlands (the “Sign of the Times” film was shot in Rotterdam, for instance), so always included the it in his tours. I got to see him on multiple tours, and every single show was mind-bogglingly brilliant. I really couldn’t pick a favorite – perhaps the “Lovesexy” tour (Shiela E. in rare form), perhaps “Parade” (still the Revolution, with Wendy & Lisa, et al.)?

    Irreplaceable.
