University lecturer, longtime local musician and recently historian of popular music - especially in and around Portsmouth. My blog is entirely about that topic
I’m not keen on ‘abroad’. No cricket, funny words … and anyway I’m very happy in Pompey. The last holiday I had (with MRA) was about 8 years ago and we went to Nice which I didn’t think was nice at all; greatly over-rated with a really crap beach. It made Southsea beach feel like Hayling.
30mns south is the Cap D’Antibes, more like the Witterings….
And another thing, in the spirit of keeping the blog apolitical, how joyous to see us potentially moving forward (or back to be more accurate) to a musical future for touring bands of touring visas, carnets, quotas, border inspections etc. Progress? Not in my name.

I can endorse that Dave, as I’ve just got back to my hotel for a very large g&t, the Icelandic support was wonderful.
Strangely appropriately Leonard Cohen’s Who by fire is playing.

Who – by fire – if laughin’ Len had written it earlier it would’ve been Ken Russell’s theme tune as South Parade Pier burned….
