Man of Mystery

I’ll be seriously impressed if you know who this is – not a player but once had a major hand in a very interesting event at the Guildhall – and back then he had a beard (this pic is from 1971)

And while you’re pondering that, here’s a piece of history – almost a century old and yet …

  1. I think it’s Guff Putowski, who organised The “Dance of Words” event, a fundraiser for The Campaign for Advancement of Civil Liberties & Release at the Guildhall on 278th May 1968. The event, m.c’d by John Peel featured Fairport Convention, Tyrannosaums Rex, Alexis Korner, The Exploding Galaxy, Pete Brown’s Poetry Band, and the poets Adrian Henry, Adrian Mitchell, Brian Patten & Spike Hawkins.

  2. Whoops, should have read 27th May, This was EXACTLY two years after Bob Dylan played his second show at The Royal Albert Hall on the famous 1966 tour – his last U.K gig for 12 years. The next one was June 15th 1978,at Earls Court. (Had to get His Bobness in here SOMEHOW….)

  3. What, not John Little then?
