  1. Hope this works with the attachments ?  Happy Birthday Rod ! Here’s a picture you won’t have seen before, I took it back in July 2009, in my front garden ! It was our 15th Wedding Anniversary and notable to see you still attracting the girls ! In this case it’s my young daughter Nicole (yes really) and your magic truly rubbed off as she is now already a really promising pianist herself and has been a Carole King fanatic since she was six !

    • I’m sure we’d all like to see that, so I’ll email you independently to see whether we can sort out the photo. Thanks

    • Now who do I know with those initials ? Come on GP, give me a clue ! I probably kick myself when I find out !!
I feel flattered that someone’s taken a leaf out of my book and started out on the piano, great news !
Carole King was and still is a great artiste, good material to get your teeth into and she was/is a very accomplished player.

  2. Well It’s a little late over your side of the pond but not too late to wish you Happy Birthday and many more. Hope you had an enjoyable day. All the best Pete

  3. Hi Rod, It was me messing up the system by trying to send attachments. Kindly though, Dave stepped in and put the pictures up for me which hopefully you have seen now on the following post. Just briefly re. Carole King, I was so pleased to get tickets for the three of us to see her in Hyde Park last July, add Don Henley to the mix as a support act and you can see what an amazing gig that was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvmmwVADtdA

The highlite for me was certainly watching my young daughter sing along with her musical ‘Heroine’, but another special memory from the occasion will always be seeing this amazing 74 yr old lady strutting across the stage with her Fender Stratocaster, belting out a rendition of ‘Smackwater Jack’ in front of 65000 people. It was a very special evening and further proof that – you’re never too old !

  4. Great to hear from you Graham, at least that’s one mystery solved !! Your “little” girl has an amazing memory for lyrics, I really hope she makes out on the piano as well. She obviously wants to go through all the grades which is something I never really got into, I relied heavily on the “ear” method, basically because I was too lazy to study, just wanting to get out there and do it. In fact now I’m teaching myself a little theory which is very interesting.
Are you playing? Correct me if I’m wrong, were you involved with the Lloyds Black Horse advert or have I totally lost the plot ?
