Supporting the Young Ones

Southsea Skiffle Orchestra, Guildhall, tomorrow (28th), 12-1pm

The Guildhall is now a Civic Trust, not a City Council enterprise and the SSO is very grateful to the Trust for all the support it has given to us over the two-and-a-half years we have been together – not least the free use of the venue every month.

Occasionally SSO does gigs away from the Guildhall, and we have an account now for any fees received. We are using that money to support the Guildhall’s initiative to present young musicians in our area, through their series called ‘Guildhall Introducing” – we rather like the idea of the ‘old guys’ helping the ‘young guys’!

In future at our lunchtime sessions, there will be a guitar case at the back of the room and we invite – stressing invite – you to contribute any spare coins you might have all of which will go to that same project. You will begin to see our logo on leaflets and we will let you know how the venture is going.
