The BBC has just announced that the man who hosted Saturday mornings from 1950s Skiffle Club, through 1960s Saturday Club, to Sounds of the 60s until just a few weeks ago, has died.

  1. And lo it came to pass that he has risen, just resting…

  2. That is so sad. I remember listening to Brian on Saturday Club many, many years ago. Long before my parents could afford a television set. I always loved his cool, laid back presentation.
I remember one of the shows when the featured artistes were Philip Goodhand Tait and the Stormville Shakers , who if any ‘Cagers’ from that time will remember as a great group.
I like to think of myself as an ‘avid’ !
    RIP BRIAN MATHEW.

  3. Apparently one of his family informed the media that Brian had died ,but that was wrong ! Hopefully he will recover.
