Bowie a Scapegoat?

Here’s a lovely story from Paul Morehead

Who knows anything more?**

“According to my gig diaries, on 4th June 1965, Jacqui and The Boyfriends played Bournemouth Pavilion. Also on the bill were Davie Jones and The Scapegoats and The Rallies. I have often wondered if we were supported by David Bowie before he changed his name. Today, by chance, I found a listing of all known Bowie gigs and he did indeed play there on that night, but officially as Davie Jones and the Lower Third, although I know they weren’t billed as that on the night. I’ve checked with Ray, our bass player, and he also has The Scapegoats listed, so it’s not just my dodgy memory. Has anyone else ever heard of The Scapegoats?”

**For sure when David Bowie came to the Birdcage a few months later, on 30 October 1965, it was billed as David Bowie & the Lower Third.
