Radio Love

Between 8-10pm tonight, Express FM, I’m talking about the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love and some of the plans for Pompey over the next few months

  1. Also 50 years since the Marine Offences Act closed down all of the pirate stations apart from the old girl Radio Caroline, who just happened to be granted a small MW licence to broadcast to Suffolk, mind you they are still online and on DAB+ . Incidentally today is Rohnan O’Rheilly’s 70 birthday but sadly he has vascular dementia so doesn’t know his baby will be going legal after all these years.

    • They were telling me about Caroline last night. August is the anniversary of the closure and certainly John Peel’s final Radio London show warrants a special mention – five hours of the furthest out, grooviest stuff around. Then it’s the start of Radio One, fifty years in September with Peel’s ‘Top Gear’.

  2. Funnily enough on my Angel, yes I’ve joined Lord Buckland, show this Saturday I do play some short extracts of John Peel in his Radio London days.
