Dave Rodgers RIP

Mick has informed me of the death of Dave Rodgers, a stalwart of the local jazz scene in the late 1950s and the 1960s, who continued to support live music as the ‘boss’ of the Auckland.

A couple of years ago he loaned me hours of recordings of local jazz musicians which I have in the archive – especially performing at the Cellar Club, a few years before it became the Indigo Vat

  1. We (Tuxedo Junction) played at the Auckland last Friday and Dave was conspicuous by his absence. Helene informed us he had pneumonia, we sent our best wishes for a speedy recovery and left it at that. What a shock we had to be told he’d passed away Saturday !
He was a real character, a pleasure to have known and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him…RIP Dave !

  2. A lovely man, who will be sorely missed……
