Something Old, Something New

I don’t think there are many Pompey Pop venues – particularly vintage ones – that I haven’t played, but last night I chalked up a new ‘old’ one – The Irish Club in Elm Grove. I was there with Scarlet Town for a 70th birthday bash; in every sense a classic Saturday night gig. The high ceiling makes the acoustics a bit difficult but it was fine, and left me wondering whether I’ve missed any others over the past fifty years.

Here’s the photo of one gig most of you won’t have done (!) the PCC’s Council Chamber, last Tuesday:

  1. Very Nice Dave. Next gig the House of Commons maybe?

  2. The Motherfolkers played the Irish Club quite a few times – we blew the noise limiter every time – until we worked out how to bypass it!

  3. I “played” the council chambers once – solo. I was giving expert evidence at a high level drugs trial and we used it as a “secret” location….
