  1. Alright mush? Read that bit didn’t I, but must be a Dinlo cos there was nothing written in Pompey, nor was it explained was it? I must be a right thicko!

  2. There are certain phrases in Pompey which are SO personal to the area. When I was a cop in Pompey, I’d go and call on a next of kin to tell ’em their husband/son/daughter was “banged up”. The standard Pompey reply was “‘He do’s my ‘ead in, but I fuckin’ loves ‘im, don’t I, babes?” . I told my social worker wife this and she didn’t believe me. One day she came home and told me she had to go round and see a mum in SomersTown to tell her her son was locked up in Fratton nick, and after breaking the news that her little darling wasn’t coming home for a while was greeted with… yep, you guessed it!!!!
